Dr. Ajay Gondane appointed as the next High Commissioner of India to Australia


Dr. Ajay M. Gondane has been appointed as the next High Commissioner of India to Australia. He is from Indian Foreign Service Batch 1985.

Dr Gondane is expected to take up the assignment shortly. He comes with some experience in the region as he had served as High Commissioner of India to Papua New Guinea previously.

Current High Commissioner Shri Navdeep Singh Suri (lFS: 1983) is leaving for  United Arab Emirates as Indian Ambassador there.

Ajay Gondane is the uncle of infamous Devyani Khobragade, who while serving as Indian Deputy Consul General in New York made international headlines. Devyani was arrested by US law enforcement for making false statements on a visa application for her housekeeper, paying her maid $3.99 an hour despite promising on the maid’s visa application to pay the minimum legal wage.
