Kalbelia – Folk Dance of Rajastan
The Kalbelia dance performed to celebrate any joyful moment in the community, is an integral part of Kalbelia culture. The woman in flowing silk skirts who swirl and dance, replicating the movements of a serpent. Kalbelia songs are based on stories taken from folklore and mythology. Special dances are performed during HOLI.
For the first time in Melbourne, the Rajasthani Kutumb has organised a performance with Kalbelia Folk Dancers. This program is to raise funds for the Ethno Specific Indian Age Care Project in Victoria. Please purchase your tickets for this event and help support our Senior Citizens.
