Indian youth Ravneet Singh Gill drowned after a group of swimmers drifted out to sea on the Gold Coast on Christmas Day. Ravneet was swimming at Duranbah beach with seven others when they started drifting out to sea at around 4pm that day.
Queensland surf lifesavers were able to save everyone else but could not revive Ravneet. Two other swimmers were taken to hospital in a stable condition.
22-year-old Ravneet Singh Gill hailed from Ludhiana in India. He arrived in Australia on student visa and was studying at the School of Business and Tourism at Southern Cross University.
