Javed Akhtar scripted Kaifi Aur Main using extracts from Shaukat’s book Yaad Ki Rehguzar and portions from Kaifi Azmi’s various interviews. This presentation, however, was described as ‘more of a theatrical collage based on the reminiscences of Kaifi and Shaukat’, and was directed by Ramesh Talwar. The narrative was mixed with renditions of Kaifi’s poems and songs by singer Jaswinder Singh, like Meri Awaaz Suno and Tum Itna Jo Muskura Rahe Ho.
