Temple History
In 1985, senior members of the Hindu Community joined hands to form Hindu Society of South Australia for constructing a permanent place of worship for the Hindu Community. The Society bought a vacated Lutheran Church for the purpose, and converted it to a Ganesh Temple by hanging a picture of Lord Ganesha inside, as a makeshift temple.
In 1986, a granite statue of Lord Ganesha was brought from India as a deity for the temple. The society , then put all their effort in constructing a new temple. In 1991, Adjoining land was acquired for this purpose. The construction of the temple began in 1999. Skilled temple construction labourers were hired from India. Maha Kumbhabhishegam was held in November 2000. The Temple was opened for worship in 2001 by the then Premier of South Australia Mr John Oslen.
