Man of Indian Appearance ejaculates onto the back of a woman at St Kilda Festival

Indian Sex abuse case St Kilda Festival

Moorabbin Sexual Offences and Child Abuse Investigation Team detectives are investigating after a woman was indecently assaulted at the St Kilda Festival last week.

A 20-year-old woman told police she was standing near the main stage watching the Thunder Mentals perform around 8.20pm on Sunday 8 February, when a man standing behind her ejaculated onto her back. He then disappeared into the crowd.

Detectives are investigating the Jacka Boulevard incident and are having the woman’s clothing forensically analysed.

Investigators have released a FACE image of a man they believe may be able to assist with their investigation.

He is described as being Indian in appearance and aged between 18-30, with a dark brown complexion, average build, short black hair and brown eyes with acne scars on his cheeks.

Detectives also wish to speak to a woman who held the victim’s wallet for her while she changed her clothes.

‘The Age’   Report on the incident

The victim, identified only as Emma, 20, said she believed the incident could have been much more serious.

“I’m pretty happy that it wasn’t worse, pretty angry, and pretty angry towards men,” she said.

“It’s a bit traumatising, I just want to catch him so that nothing like that can happen to someone else or something worse because I feel like it could have been a lot worse in a less public setting.”

Emma said she was aware that the man was a little too close before the incident but that in the mayhem of the moshpit it was hard to tell what he was doing.

“He was just up against me and a lot of people were all really close to each other but it made me feel uncomfortable,” she said.

“Everyone was jumping up and down on the ground along with the music so it was hard to tell if he was sort of going along with it or sort of doing something else.

“I just felt something on me and turned around and saw him doing up his fly.”

She had immediately removed her top in the middle of the moshpit, handing her wallet and phone to a woman standing behind her before her sister came to her aid.

Emma said although she was left without a scratch on her, she would be scarred by the incident. “It’s really gross, pretty disgusting, he must be sick in the head to do something like that,” she said.

Her clothes will be forensically analysed. Detectives want to speak to a woman who held the victim’s wallet while she changed her clothes.

The man is described as Indian, aged between 18 and 30, with a dark-brown complexion, an average build and short, black hair. He has brown eyes and acne scars on his cheeks.
