2. Oru Vadackan Veeragadha (1989)
Many Directors have tried their luck on movies based on the Chekavas of Northern Malabar, the warriors. The Legends of Aromal Chekavar ar and the man who cheated him, Chandu the Cheat was the theme of many Malayalam movies both in the black and white and era and later. Oru Vadakkan Veeragatha presents an alternative version of the same legend, as it presents the incident from Chandu’s perspective, suggesting that grave injustice has been done to Chandu. The movie received four national awards and six Kerala State awards.
