Ustad Amjad Ali Khan is the best known Sarod player in India. Born in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh, he belongs to a family of musicians. He is the 6^th generation Sarod player in the family lineage.

Amjad Ali Khan simplified Sarod by removing some strings. He is a recipient of many prestigious awards, which includes Padmashree, Sangeeth Natak Academy award and Padma Bhushan
