Adelaide Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Samitee Inc. welcomes you to the 5th anniversary of Ganeshotsav celebrations in Adelaide. Ganeshotsav dates back to the pre-Independence of India, where people were prohibited from gathering in large numbers. ‘Sarvajanik’ Ganeshotsav was then created as a celebration that would act to unite people from diverse backgrounds and enhance their sense of belonging. Adelaide’s Indian community rallied together in 2012 to begin the tradition of a Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav here in South Australia. Over the years, we have seen many unique and exciting performances from actors, singers and dancers in our talented local Indian-Australian community as well from Interstate.
We are extremely excited as we prepare for Adelaidecha Raja – Ganpati Bappa’s arrival this year, as we are planning a thrilling weekend of festivities. We welcome you, your family and friends to this wonderful occasion and look forward to celebrating with you all. Like last year, proceeds raised from the 2 days of celebrations will go to charity(s), which we will announce soon. If you would like to participate in volunteering behind the scenes or participating on the stage please contact ASG through our Facebook page.
1) Wish to join the dance performance segment but do not have their own groups. Boys, girls, men and women of all ages are welcome and we will allocate based on your interest – this is a great opportunity for people who have always wanted to participate and make new friends!
2) If dancing is not for you, but you would still like to participate in a cultural item, we would love to have you join our Lejhim team or have your child in the Children’s Traditional Fancy Dress Parade where we will showcase India’s various cultures in all their traditional, colourful and wonderful glory.
