The legendary Playback Singer of Hindi Cinema and the sister of the Great Lata Mangeshkar – Asha Bhosle returns one last time to Australian shores for a performance, that has no parallels . Asha Bhosle’s career as a playback singer began in 1943 – that is a career of more than six decades.
She the world’s most recoded artist ever and she is returning to the Sydney Opera House nine years after her last tour. She has featured among CNN’S top 20 Music icons.
This performance is part of the contemporary music program presented by Sydney Opera House, which includes Disclosure, Father John Misty, Four Tet (LIVE), Kurt Vile, José González, Hot Chip, Beach House, Sleater-Kinney and the annual Vivid LIVE festival, which has featured Morrissey, Sufjan Stevens, Bill Callahan, TV on the Radio and more.

Asha Bhosle’s Personal Life
Asha Bhosle lives in South Mumbai. Her sisters Lata and Usha Mangeshkar are playback singers. Her other, sister Meena Mangeshkar and brother Hridaynath Mangeshkar are music directors.
Asha eloped with 31-year-old Ganpatro Bhosle at the age of 16, in 1949. They divorced in 1960. She had three children from the marriage.
Asha married Dev Burman in 1980.
Asha is a good cook too. if her singing career had not taken off, she said “I would have become a cook. I’d have cooked in four houses and made money.” Asha is a successful restaurateur and runs restaurants in Dubai and Kuwait, called Asha’s.
