Indian Restaurants convicted in Melbourne for lack of Hygiene in 2018

Restaurant hygiene is a major concern for people while dining out, as it has the potential to create a health hazard which may even result in death. In 2017, Indian restaurants largely stayed off from the “Name and Shame list” of Victorian Food Authority giving an impression that finally things are changing for good. But this year three Indian restaurants have been convicted so far for not maintaining the required hygiene standards. The three convicted filthy Indian restaurants in Melbourne are:

Chpaati Indian Restaurant

Name of convicted person(s) or company: Food Republic (Vic) Pty Ltd

Date of conviction:  31 May 2018

Court: Ringwood Magistrates’ Court

Court decision: Found guilty with conviction

Sentence and/or order imposed: Convicted and fined $15,000 as part of an aggregate order, with $10,000 costs


Pandus Restaurant

Address: 345 – 351 Barkly Street, West Footscray 3012

Name of convicted person(s) or company: Prasanth Madala

Date of conviction: 17 November 2017

Court: Sunshine Magistrates’ Court

Court decision: Found guilty with conviction

Sentence and/or order imposed:  Convicted and fined $3,108 as part of an aggregate order with $212.70 costs.
