Indian woman shot with nail gun by stepson in critical condition in Sydney

Ragini Narayan with step son Akash

NSW Police arrested 20-year-old Akash Narayan and charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent to murder on 26th December 2018 for shooting his step mother with nail gun. 50-year-old Ragni Narayan was shot twice at close range by Akash after they had a verbal fight at their home in Bonnyrigg Heights in Sydney’s south-west at around 10:30 pm on Christmas day. The Emergency services received a call and attended the injured at their home in Messina Crescent in Bonnyrigg Heights.  The doctors at the Liverpool hospital where she is admitted describes her injuries as horrific and she is assumed to have suffered severe brain damage. Ms Narayan underwent surgery and remains in critical condition.  Akash, who is an apprentice builder, fled the scene on foot after the incident. Her husband was in a shock and was treated by paramedics at the scene. Akash was arrested in a street not far from the incident the nextday.

Herald sun reported a neighbour saying, she thought Ms Narayan attempted to leave the house during the fight. As she got into the car, Akash pulled her out and committed the offence. Akash was produced before Parramatta Court this morning charged with wounding with intent to murder. He did not apply for bail and it was formally refused. He’ll remain behind bars and will appear in Fairfield Local Court via videolink on March 7.
