Malaysian Airlines decided to scrap its services to Kochi from 2nd June 2015, citing a drop in revenue from its services to that destination.
The booking office of the airlines in Kochi reportedly received the message from its head office to block ticket booking for dates beginning from June. Travel agencies also received information from the airlines about the closure of ticket bookings to Kochi from 2nd June.
Those who have already made reservations to Kochi beyond 2nd June 2015 will get their tickets transferred to other nearest terminals where the airlines operate. But passengers will have to bear travel expenses from those terminals to Kochi.
Malaysian Airlines usually offers super cheap fares to Kochi from Australian capital cities. This is one of the few Airlines that offers an under $1000 fare from Australia to Kochi during peak seasons. This is definitely a bad news for Malayalee community in Australia.
