Melbourne Murugan Temple, Sunshine
One will find this Murugan temple situated at one of the most unlikely places, sandwiched between two small scale industries in the sunshine industrial estate. People visit temples for the tranquillity and the ambience it offers which helps to feel the sacredness of the omnipresent. Once you get past the temple gates, the ruthless industrial environment is history and the soothing presence of Lord Muruga will overtake you.
Melbourne Murugan temple is managed by Melbourne Murugan Cultural Centre Inc. This temple is in operation from 1999 in a temporary facility. The foundation was laid on 2002 and the temple construction was completed in 2006. The temple was consecrated on 28th January 2007.
Murugan temple has three shrines, with the main shrine for Murugan, Valli and Devasena , the other two for Vinayagar ( Ganapathy ) and Shiva and Parvathi. There are two vasantha mandapams, One for Murugan and the other for Murugan as Shanmugar.There are various parivara moorthies including Thakshanamurthy, Visnu, & Thurga The temple also have a place for navagrahas and a shrine for Hanuman in the front of the Temple.

Directions for reaching Melbourne Murugan Temple
There are no direct bus service to the temple.There is a bus service from Sunshine to St Albans which touches McIntyre road before turning off to other road. This service is mainly during week days
For people coming along Western Ring road (Route M80) ,please exit at McIntyre Road / Sunshine Avenue exit
(If you are coming from the South (Princes Hwy, Western Hwy or City) turn right at the top of the exit. If you are coming from the North / East (Greensborough, Hume Hwy, Calder Hwy / Tullamarine Freeway turn left at the top of exit)Follow Mcintyre road, turn off at first traffic lights (left) into Whitehill avenue, Turn right at fourth intersection turn right into Knight Avenue.
Temple is in Knight avenue near the intersection with Imperial Avenue If you have missed Whitehill avenue, Please turn left at next road (Munro Avenue) Munro Avenue change direction at the end (near railway line) and becomes Knight avenue Temple is in Knight avenue near the intersection with Imperial Avenue
For people coming from Sunshine along McIntyre road
Turn Right into Munro Avenue.

For people coming from St Albans,Keilor or Taylors Lake along Sunshine Avenue.
Continue along Sunshine Avenue / McIntyre Road until you passed Western Ring road. Follow Mcintyre road, turn off at first traffic lights (left) into Whitehill avenue. Turn right at fourth intersection turn right into Knight Avenue.
Nearest railway stations to visit Murugan Temple , Sunshine
Ginifer Station or Albion Station on the St.Albans/Water Gardens Lines. It is a fair walk from either of them. However, it is convenience for people to get off at Sunshine or St.Albans. and catch a Taxi.
