Thai Tamil School Presents

Pongal Festival (Harvest Festival) is celebrated by Tamils all over the world as a form of thanks-giving to the nature, agriculture, farmers and livestock animals which help in farming and cropping. This annual celebration exhibits loads of country songs, dances, art, cultural events and ethnic food.

In Queensland, the Pongal celebration event is organised in ‘open park area’ since 2014 by popular Tamil groups in Brisbane. Planning for 2016 has begun in February 2015, to celebrate this festival grandly by the Supporters, Sponsors and Volunteers. Not to be missed this ‘FREE’, fun-filled event, which includes fun rides, authentic food stalls and free traditional sweets. FREE events for the entire family include magic shows, multi-cultural events, DJ, cooking demo, kolam(floor art) and painting competitions, tug-of-war, traditional sports. Free activities for kids – face painting, tattoo and much much more.

The objective of this event is to create awareness and keep the rich Tamil culture among the Brisbane community alive through cultural performances, art and music, encourage and support local and overseas country/folk musicians, support Tamil school which aims to teach conversational Tamil to enthusiastic learner from various age groups and backgrounds of #Brisbane.

Moreover, this adds colour and richness to Queensland’s growing diversity.
